I have come across two listings on Kickstarter that have really sparked my interest. I am a huge headphone junkie and I love buying and supporting companies that release good products. I think good sounding headphones are crucial and I strive to find the best headphones out there. This is why I will be backing two Kickstarter projects based on providing good headphones for less.
Forte Life
With its new Life series of headphones, Forte is looking to provide excellent sound quality for less. So how does Forte intend to achieve this goal? With a new Technology they are calling "Harmonic Interference-Free Technology." Forte describes harmonics as an "echo" that is present in many headphones. The harmonic frequencies of many headphones overlap and present a mushed together sound.
"This means that a low bass sound will also undesirably come back as noise at higher frequencies, interfering with other sounds that are supposed to be heard at higher frequency such as vocals or other instruments," according to the Kickstarter page. "This interference blurs the sounds of instruments and vocals, making them sound contaminated and unclear."
Forte has developed a technology that reduces Harmonic Noise and helps to provide clear crisp sound while keeping costs low. By focusing more on HIF Technology, Forte has avoided adding more drivers to each earphone which is why the Forte Life retail for only $30. An extra $10 gets you the Forte Life S which are made of a "metallic housing" which both look the part, and help provide better sound.
Zipbuds SLIDE
Another campaign that I came across that really intrigued me, is a campaign for the Zipbuds SLIDE. Zipbuds promises "the end of tangled earbuds" with this new model. The SLIDE uses a zipping mechanism that allows users to sort of zip together both the left and right earbuds when not in use. When zipped together, the headphones appear to just be one long cord. The left and right earbud zip together in a top to bottom fashion using a patented "Ridge & Valley Design."
"The right side of the cable is shaped like a ridge. The left side of the cable is shaped like a valley. The ridge and valley fit together seamlessly to keep our SLIDE earbuds completely tangle-free," as stated on the Kickstarter page.
Zipbuds is not only promising a tangle free design but also great sound quality thanks to Zipbuds' ZBX High Performance Drivers. The company states that 2 years of research and development have gone into this new driver.
Zipbuds SLIDE can be had for $29 and a mic version can be had for $39. Check out the embedded campaign video below and head to the Kickstarter page for more. O and before I forget. There is a glow in the dark version as well, awesome!
I plan on backing both of these campaigns and will update the site and YouTube page with more information when I get my hands on these fine products.
