The iPhone 6 Plus wasn't the only thing Apple announced on Tuesday, the smaller but just as powerful iPhone 6 is coming. The iPhone 6 has a 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 1334 x 750. Just like the iPhone 5s and 6 Plus, the iPhone 6's screen has an aspect ratio of 16x9 so all apps will scale to fit the larger screen without distortion.
The phone's internals are identical to the iPhone 6 Plus except its camera has digital image stabilization where as the iPhone 6 Plus has optical image stabilization. Users can double touch the home button for Apple's new "Reachability" feature which brings down the app to half of the screen in order for easy access of the back button. Apple's Display Zoom will show only 5 rows of icons on the home menu instead of the new 6th row.
The camera on the iPhone 6 is 8 megapixels and allows for more light inside thanks to its f/2.2 aperture and new sensor with larger pixels. A new fast focus feature is onboard which uses "pixels on the image sensor" and allows for the camera to focus much faster than before. HDR photos are now supported and panorama photos are now maxed out at 43 megapixels. Video is now supported at full HD 1080p resolution with 30 or 60 frames-per-second. Slow motion video can now be recorded at 240 frames-per-second as well as the existing 120fps. A new sensor in the front-facing camera allows for 81 percent more light.
The 64-bit A8 processor is 25 percent faster at processing than the A7 and 50 percent faster at processing graphics. Apple is usually mum on reporting specific specs but when people get there hands on the device and do some testing I will let you know.
The iPhone 6 will launch with iOS 8 on Sept. 19 with pre-orders beginning on Sept. 12. A new pricing scale has been introduced: $199 gets you an iPhone 6 with 16 gigs of memory, pay $299 and you get 64 gigs of memory and if you pay $399 you get 128 gigs of memory. All of these prices are for a 2 year contract. Stay Tuned to TechNation for more.
