Update: Lenovo has released a statement saying that the media has been reporting everything wrong and they will continue to sell 8inch tablets in the US. Statement is below.
"We will continue to bring new Windows devices to market across different screen sizes, including a new 8-inch tablets and 10-inch tablets coming this holiday. Our model mix changes as per customer demand, and although we are no longer selling ThinkPad 8 in the U.S., and have sold out of Miix 8-inch, we are not getting out of the small-screen Windows tablet business as was reported by the media. In short, we will continue to sell both 8 and 10 inch Windows tablets in both the U.S. and non-U.S. markets."So the 8inch Miix 2 is just merely sold out and will not be shipped to other countries as I previously reported, but the ThinkPad 8 will no longer be sold in the US.
Lenovo will no longer be selling small 8inch Windows tablets in the US anymore. Company execs site a slow demand as the reasoning. All remaining stock of the 8inch Miix 2 and ThinkPad 8 will be shipped to countries where "demand has been much stronger," a spokesperson told PC World. Don't worry, anything 10inches and above will still be sold in the US. Demand may be slow for Lenovo's small tablets but the Dell's Venue 8 Pro seems to be holding on.
