The Xbox One June update is live starting today. If you have a console and have the power settings set to Instant on, the console will power on and update automatically and enter sleep mode again. If you have your power settings set to energy save mode, then the console will prompt you to update when possible or you can manual update in the settings part of the console. More information about the update after the jump.
The June update allows for external hard drives, 256GB and up, to be plugged in via USB 3.0 and used for extra storage beyond the 500GB hard drive built in. The Xbox can save games, apps and media to external hard drives.
The update also allows for new SmartGlass features to work with the console. The updated SmartGlass app can now control your Television's volume, cable box and other aspects of the TV. The new SmartGlass app also displays the One Guide allowing for users to browse what is on and easily tune to that channel.
The June update also brings real name identification to the system. Users can now have their real names displayed instead of their Gamertag if they so choose. Users can also control who can see their real name through the privacy settings.
The June update is available now for Xbox One. WPcentral is also reporting that Hulu will give Xbox Live Gold members three free months of access to Hulu Plus in the coming weeks. Watch the embedded video below for more on the update.
