On Thursday, SiriusXM launched a handful of brand new channels in hopes to bring more variety to its lineup. Venus, Y2 Kountry and Utopia were all added to the satellites. Head past the jump for more about these new channels.
Venus is a new channel focusing on upbeat (rhythmic) pop hits from the early 2000s to Today. Venus can be found on channel 3. Venus replaced the long running 20 on 20 which has been apart of XM since the beginning. Recently, 20 on 20 took a different turn shifting from a top 20 countdown channel to a hits discovery channel. Venus looks to provide subscribers a little more rhythm compared to the more rock focused Hits 1.
Y2 Kountry is a 2000s country music station. Expect to hear country music spanning from the year 2000 to 2009. Y2 Kountry was previously a station only available on the internet but has now moved to channel 57.
Utopia is a 90s and 2000s dance music station. Expect to hear dance music and dance remixes to pop songs. Utopia also plays a new song every now and then to add to the variety of the station. Just like Y2 Kountry, Utopia was a station available only online but has been brought to the satellites on channel 55.
Today Show Radio is also highlighted as a new station but the station was added on June 25.
To make room for Y2 Kountry and Utopia, SiriusXM has eliminated SiriusXM Pops from the satellites and merged it with Symphony Hall. Pops can still be heard on SiriusXM Internet Radio.
Channel 103 also sports a new name and logo, SiriusXM Talk. The station was formally The Opie & Anthony Channel but, due to racially charged tweets, Anthony Cumia has been let go. Channel 340, Tiesto's Club Life Radio, also sports a new black and white logo. For more information about all these changes including the renumbering of others, visit the SiriusXM site.
