9to5Macreports that a new code found in iOS 8 suggests that Apple is working to support split multitasking on iPad. The feature was not announced at WWDC last week but was found laying around in the coding for iOS 8, and thanks to developer Steven Troughton-Smith, there is video of just how the function might work. While currently Troughton-Smith can not get apps to actually run side-by-side, you can see from the picture above that Safari has been shorten to take up just 3/4 of the screen. As of now, apps can take up 1/4, 3/4, and 1/2 of the screen. Who knows when the feature will be announced and implemented, but this is great indication that Apple looks to take on the competition with split screen multitasking. Do not get your hopes up for the functionality when iOS 8 is released in the fall.
