If you're like me, you had to take a deep breath after that amazing product tease at the tail end of Microsoft's Xbox E3 2016 presser. On Monday, Microsoft announced two new Xbox One consoles, the Xbox One S and Project Scorpio.
Project Scorpio, which is a codename, is one heck of a device. Phil spence describes it as, "the most powerful console ever built." The console will be able to run games at their max resolution while maintaining a buttery smooth frame rate. So far, all we know is that 4K, VR, and 60fps are all capable from this powerful console. Speaking of powerful, Project Scorpio will ship with an 8-core CPU (not sure if this is an upgraded AMD Jaguar processor from the current console or something entirely new), 320GB/s of memory bandwidth, and a 6 teraFLOPS (floating-point operations per second) GPU.
Pricing is not available as of yet, nor is Microsoft ready to announce a VR partner for the console. However, we do know that Project Scorpio will be released Holiday of 2017. Be sure to come back to TechNation for more info from E3. Live tweet with me @TNblogofficial as each press event happens. I will update this article accordingly as info becomes available.
