You read the title right folks. T-Mobile will now unlock your smartphone remotely via an app. So what's the catch you ask? Well, you can only unlock your device temporarily, 30 days to be exact, if you are still under T-Mobile's eligibility requirements, but if you are not bound by these requirements then you can unlock your phone permanently.
That is not the only catch though. The app is apparently only available to those that own a Samsung Galaxy Avant. The chaps at Android Central sideloaded the app to other Android devices but they were unsuccessful in their attempts to unlock those devices.
This new app comes after regulatory approval of unlocking cellphones in the US. T-Mobile could be testing out the app with hopes to bring it to more phones. Lets hope this is true.
