  • Lower priced Windows tablets and laptops on the way.

At its World Wide Partners conference on Monday, Microsoft announced a brand new budget friendly HP laptop known as the Stream. The laptop is expected to come out in time for the holiday season but this is all we know about the laptop for now. Microsoft also announced two $249 (US) Toshiba and Acer laptops. The Acer laptop is equipped with a 15.6 inch screen, a 2.26 ghz Intel Celeron processor,  500GB of storage and 4gigs of RAM. The Toshiba laptop is equipped with a 11.5 inch display, a 32GB SSD and weighs on 2.4 pounds.

Microsoft also highlighted that HP is planning on releasing a 7 to 8 inch Windows tablet that could cost around $99 (US). So why are these tablets so cheap? Well Microsoft, earlier in the year, announced that manufactures installing Windows on devices with displays under 9 inches are not charged a licensing fee. Microsoft is taking steps now to try and keep the low end market away from Chromebooks which have been evolving over the years.

All of the above devices are expected sometime during the holiday season. Head here for more tech news.
