Will the 2016 Ford Focus RS start at $35,730 (USD)?

Over on Focusst.org and Focusrs.org, users are configuring their new Focus RS's months before an official word on pricing and a release date. First discovered on Focusst.org by forum member Jerkstore, a new, rather official looking, configurator lists the 2016 Focus RS starting at $35,730 with a destination of charge of $875.

The configurator lists several options including: a moonroof priced at $895, 19" Forged Alloy painted wheels wrapped with sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires priced at $1,990 and 19" Forged Alloy painted wheels without Sport Cup 2 tires are priced at $1,395. Interestingly, adding the option of the upgraded Sport Cup 2 tires will automatically add the Forged Alloy wheel option. The vehicle will come standard with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires so don't feel left out if those Cup 2's are out of your price range.

Here is where things get a little messy. According to the configurator, 18" wheels will come standard. We already know this to be false since the standard tire size is 235/35/R19. Secondly, under packages there is no listing of an RS2 package that previous dealership workers have already confirmed to be a legitimate package (at least I couldn't find an RS2 package). With that said, the configurator shows a 10 speaker Sony branded system as standard (outside of the RS2 package) but this option has already proven to be apart of the package with a six speaker system standard.

Now it is safe to take all of this with a grain of salt still (including the package information from dealers). Ford has not announced pricing and package availability just yet. Things can certainly change between now and the spring. However if this is indeed legit, I think these prices will make Focus RS hopefuls very satisfied (unless dealer markup becomes an issue). The OnePlus 2 is $329 and $389 US

The OnePlus 2 is here! After an amazing VR launch on Monday, OnePlus used a mixture of fans and conference calls to provide viewers with thorough information regarding its new "2016 flagship killer". One thing's for sure though, it will be available to the public on August 11 with an invite system in place.

The OnePlus 2 will feature a 13 megapixel rear facing camera featuring larger pixels than its predecessor and better optical image stabilization. A new laser autofocus system hopes to provide the best focus possible for your images. The OnePlus 2's screen is still 5.5 inches at 1080p though it now features a better contrast ratio and higher screen brightness. This is not the same panel that was featured on the original One.

A new fingerprint scanner is found on the front of the device as well as dashes that are user configurable for multitask viewer, home and back button actions. A new alert switch is on the side of the device that block notifications. Users can choose between none, priority or all. Oxygen OS is the new operating system of choice and looks to provide users with high customization levels with a new dark mode on board.

Everything is run by a V2.1 Snapdragon 810 processor from Qualcomm with a 3300 mAh battery providing all the juice. Four gigs of RAM or on board and your choice of 16 or 64 gigs of memory option should provide users with ample memory. The phones speakers appear to be down facing just like before with holes to the left and right of the new USB Type C charging port. There is also a metal ring around the device to help provide that extra premium feel. Sandstone black is the standard back cover though it can be changed, in a matter of seconds, with more premium covers.

Expect the device to launch in multiple markets on August 11. An invite is needed to place your order just like before. The 2 will cost $329 US for 16 gigs and $389 US for 64 gigs of storage. OnePlus will also set up pop up stores around the globe to help provide users with support and invite bags filled with goodies. In the US, a store will pop up in NYC (stay tuned). You can turn off all electronic aids in the 2016 Ford GT

Back in January at the Detroit Auto Show, Ford announced that it's once again producing a new iteration of the highly successful GT racing machine. The vehicle will feature a 3.5-liter turbocharged Ecoboost V6 producing more than 600 hp. This engine, together with a new lightweight chassis, is looking to claim victory at the 2016 24 hours of Le Mans in France.

Back in April the folks at Jalopnik wrote an article exploring the question if the new GT is worse than the old one. The article, while very short, presented a leaked comparison sheet featuring the new GT and the previous model. The picture (seen above) listed creature comforts (like Sync) and electronic nannies (like Launch Control and Traction Control) as equipment available on this car and not the previous one.

Well, today XCAR (one of my favorite YouTube channels by the way) released an interview with a Ford representative explaining the purpose of the new GT. At 2:51 the rep begins to explain how the new model will differ from the old one.

"This car is going to be more capable. It's going to be easier to drive. It has a lot of the driving aids that you would want to see in it, but it still the ability to shut all those aids off as well and let the driver be one with the car."

Well there you have it folks. The new GT will be able to shut off electronic nannies in hopes for a better car and driver relationship. Now, what exact aids the driver can shut off is still unknown; only time will tell. Hope you're happy Jalopnik! The video is embedded below.

Opinion: Why I love Beats 1 and probably won't listen to it again

Ok that's harsh. I might listen to it again, but I won't be as enthused to listen as I was on Tuesday when it launched. There are many great things to love about Apple's new online only streaming station Beats 1. The fact that Apple actually hired some amazing program directors (Ebro, Zane Lowe and Julie Adenuga) to run the station is amazing. The fact that the playlist is extremely broad playing a bunch of genres including ones that aren't so popular here in the US is amazing! The fact that each presenter is live in the studio and not voice tracked like your local iHeart Media station is amazing! What's not so amazing is the fact that the station still seems to be stuck in the past in some ways.

For starters, why is the music censored! This is the internet not broadcast. To me, music is an art that should never be censored. If you take offense to it then turn it off. It was a total drag to hear Ebro go so hard playing amazing Hip Hop for the world to hear only for it to be so heavily censored. Now before you say I'm happy it's censored so I can listen to it with my kids that does not change the subject matter of the song. If the song speaks heavily about violence, drugs or sex would you still let your kids listen to it even if it is censored? I sure wouldn't.

Another issue I have with Beats 1 is that the station is formatted in a conventional manner still playing songs over and over. True the variety of songs may be more eclectic than traditional radio, but the fact that they have a song of the day that they play every hour is very annoying (How many times do I have to hear Freedom by Pharrell!).

Beats 1 is an amazing station but it's not revolutionary. The internet is full of human curated streaming radio stations that offer the same level of variety. Dash Radio for example is an amazing service started by DJ Skee after he grew tired of how crappy SiriusXM has become. It has over 50 stations programed by some of the industries finest with virtually every station playing uncensored tracks (yes including Top 40 stations too). It's a good service even though its sound quality is inconsistent from channel to channel.

With all this said, I applaud Apple for taking a different approach with the whole Apple Music service. I'll have a full review of Apple Music on iTunes within the next few days. Hint: I actually enjoy it. Beats 1 has actually exceeded my expectations (they were low) but it's just not enough.

iTunes 12.2 is now live

Started kind of rocky but iTunes 12.2 is now live featuring support for iTunes Connect, Apple Music and Beats 1. To update you can use the Mac App store and click on the Updates tab at the top or force an update within iTunes itself. On a Mac go to the iTunes drop down menu and click Check for Updates. I'll be using Apple Music on iTunes and will update the site with my first impressions shortly.

How to listen to Beats 1 without iTunes 12.2 (Update: 12.2 is live!)

So, we all know that Beats 1 officially launched today, unless of course you live under a rock. Its
launch coincides with the launch of Apple Music, iOS 8.4, OS X 10.10.4 and of course iTunes 12.2..er... or so we hoped. As of the time of me writing this, iTunes 12.2 is not available yet for some. The absents of iTunes 12.2 has prompted some pretty negative reactions by people on Twitter wanting to be apart of the Beats 1 hype. Being a real big radio buff, yours truly has even tweeted some rather *cough* upsetting *cough* tweets about the ordeal. Here's the thing, you don't need iTunes 12.2 to listen to Beats 1 via the iTunes player.
